Most popular website building technologies come with built-in "footprints" or "signatures" that allow tech-savvy users to identify the technology used simply by inspecting the code.
For example, a website built with WordPress will typically include references to "wp-content" in the code.
We've researched the most popular website building platforms, compiled a dataset of its footprints. We have analyzed 2,071 websites and 1,123 websites were detected as one of our dataset's platforms. The remaining websites are either unknown, broken links or social media profiles used as their website.
