Why People Should Focus on Boosting Their Immune System During the Spread of COVID-19

03/17/2020 09:00 - Aventura, FL - (PR Distribution™)

Aventura, FL - The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the World Health Organization have stated that people with weak or compromised immune systems face higher risks of getting seriously ill from COVID-19. In response to the uptick in cases and concern for the coronavirus, HealthGAINS’s principal physicians, Dr. Alvaro J. Ocampo and Dr. Kendrick Heywood, are leading an effort to raise awareness about added measures people can take to increase their defenses against infection.

Managing stress, getting enough sleep and avoiding alcohol along with tobacco are among the most well-known methods to boost a person’s immune system. In addition, a study showed that older adults who increased their vegetable and fruit consumption experienced improved antibody response.

Making the right lifestyle changes is an effective way to boost your immune system. There are also powerful lesser-known approaches that, when combined with lifestyle shifts, can further strengthen the body’s defenses. These include specific antiviral and anti-inflammatory peptides like Thymosin Beta 4 and Thymosin Alpha, injectable vitamins, and supplements,” shares Alvaro J. Ocampo, MPH.

Thymosin is a hormone secreted from the thymus. Its primary function is to stimulate the production of T cells, which are an important part of the immune system. Thymosin also assists in the development of B cells to plasma cells to produce antibodies. The predominant form of Thymosin, Thymosin Beta 4, is a member of a highly conserved family of actin monomer-sequestering proteins. Thymosin Beta 4 is currently being trialed as a potential therapy for HIV, AIDS, and Influenza. Thymosin Alpha1 is a major component of Thymosin Fraction 5 and is responsible for restoring and modulating immune function, particularly cell-mediated immune function. It is widely used and studied in multiple types of cancer and viral illnesses. Some physicians are using thymosin for chronic fatigue and Lyme disease as well as autoimmune function as well. TA 1 is thought to modulate the immune system by augmenting T-cell function.

Dr. Alvaro J. Ocampo and Dr. Kendrick Heywood, along with the rest of HealthGAINS’s medical staff are actively providing support and sharing informative resources about proactive approaches people can utilize to stay healthy.
