On October 16, 2018, Travelers Protective Association (TPA), a fraternal benefit society, issued grants totaling $32,500 during the fourth quarter of 2018. Funds were generated from donations by TPA members and investment income generated by the Trust. The grants, which are awarded nationwide to recipients, ranged from $200 to $700 per person based on need. Recipients were located in 21 states and ranged in age from 1 to 88 years old. This quarter 17 grants were presented to Missouri residents, including recipients from St. Louis, University City, Hazelwood, St. Peters, and O’Fallon.
Established in 1975, the organization’s Scholarship Trust for the Hearing Impaired provides financial aid to people with deafness or hearing loss. Grants are used for mechanical devices, medical and specialized treatment, and education that includes speech classes and interpreters.
“We are grateful to our members and supporters who help make these life-changing grants possible,” said TPA’s Chief Administrative Officer, Albert M. Shoemaker, Jr. “Helping people of all ages with deafness and hearing loss is a big passion of TPA, and we are proud to continue furthering our mission.”
