The Road to the Pickleball Hall of Fame in Austin Texas

2021-02-24 09:00:00 - United States, Illinois, Chicago - (PR Distribution™)

Seymour (rif) Rifkind, Founder & President of the Pickleball Hall of Fame (PHOF) is so dedicated to preserving the history of the game of pickleball that at 70 years old he is riding his bicycle 3000 miles across the United States to help raise funds for the PHOF Museum.

The PHOF was established in 2017, with a temporary museum at Pickleball Station in Kent Washington. With 15 inductees to the PHOF it was time for a permanent home for the PHOF, so the organization partnered with the Pickle Ranch in Austin, Texas where the PHOF Museum will be the anchor building of a beautiful new pickleball complex. The funds for a 60’ x 30’ stand alone building (yes, the dimensions of a pickleball court) are already in place. However, funds for the interior furnishings, showcases, video equipment etc. still need to be raised.

With a deadline of opening the museum in Autumn 2021 and with the COVID-19 pandemic forcing Rif to stay home during 2020, rather than travel around the world promoting pickleball and supporting countries. Rif decided to get in training at home and started to plan the biggest cycle ride of his life.

Seymour Rifkind says “I am reaching out to the pickleball community for donations to raise the needed capital for a first class sport museum”.

Rif went on to say “The Pickleball Ranch will have 32 courts with plans to host a number of tournaments throughout the year. This will provide a steady stream of player traffic to the museum. Players can visit the museum to learn about the history of our great sport and to honor the competitors and contributors who will be enshrined there.  The Museum is planning its grand opening October 25, 2021 in conjunction with the 1stPickleball Hall of Fame Championships.”

“Dates and the 40 cities I’ll be visiting during my 3000 mile bicycle ride across the United States have been set. If all goes as planned, I’ll dip my wheel in the pacific ocean on February 28 and complete my journey on April 12 by dipping my wheel in the atlantic ocean.”
