The Henson Family of Dealerships was honored to donate a car to support Senator Brandon Creighton in his recognition of Satchel Smith, the ‘Hotel hero’ acknowledged for his dedication during Tropical Storm Imelda.
Brian Creighton, Henson Sales Manager & Senator Creighton's brother and Eric Barbosa, General Manager and Managing Partner of Henson Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM, were more than happy to donate the 2013 Honda Insight Hybrid.
Satchel Smith worked for 32 straight hours at Homewood Suites during Tropical Storm Imelda.
Smith lost his vehicle, for the second time after losing another vehicle during Harvey, to Imelda flooding. He also took care of dozens of stranded customers for 32 straight hours inside a Beaumont hotel during Imelda.
Satchel Smith, a Lamar student, track athlete and part-time employee at Homewood Suites, was all alone at the hotel when the floodwaters rolled in. What did he do? He smiled and went to work, taking care of his dozens of stranded customers.
"When you get a call from our States’ Senator with an opportunity to serve and help a young man with Satchel’s character you have to act.” said Eric Barbosa, “We did just that. Helping those in the community is a blessing for us at Henson Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM and Henson Brand.”
