The Grateful Garment Project Wins JSY Giving's Pitch for Good 2018

JSY Giving, a 501(c)(3) granting nonprofit, is honored to announce that The Grateful Garment Project won the 2018 Pitch for Good fundraiser that was held on September 29th, 2018. In attendance were Assemblyman David Chiu, Mayor London Breed, and Supervisor Vallie Brown. All shared their stories of knowing Jane Yin Bolander and the importance of preserving her legacy via JSY Giving.

“When I first met Jane, we shared a passion for nonprofits, since, at the time, I was at the African American Art and Culture Complex”, said San Francisco Mayor, London Breed. “She was taken from us too early and getting together to honor her memory by helping out these nonprofits is fantastic.”

Meet The People’s Choice Winner

After strong five minute pitches from each nonprofit, The Grateful Garment Project received the most points to be named the JSY Giving’s Pitch for Good 2018 People’s Choice Winner.

About The Grateful Garment Project(https://gratefulgarment.org/): When a victim of sexual violence elects to undergo a rape kit, they are asked to surrender their clothing for forensic evidence leaving them with nothing to wear home - adding insult to injury. The Grateful Garment Project exists to return dignity to victims of sexual violence and reduce any further negative impact on their being. We help survivors begin their healing journey by providing new clothing, establishing a safety net, and helping to restore dignity.

Telling Better Stories Matter

People love a good story and JSY Giving is dedicated to helping nonprofits tell better stories. The Grateful Garment Project was one of 15 nonprofits that JSY Giving training on how to tell better stories. Stories are what motivate people to get involved with great causes. The art of telling a great story revolves around being in tune with why a nonprofit exists and how potential patrons can help it thrive. This was how our Jane Yin Bolander helped nonprofits tell stories that matter and why we are honored to continue on her legacy of philanthropy.
