Bull brings operational excellence, innovative technology experience, and automation of processes to WhyteSpyder
WhyteSpyder Owner and Chief Executive Officer Eric Howerton is pleased to announce J.S. Bull as SKU Ninja + WhyteSpyder’s new co-owner and chief operating officer. Since launching in 2011, WhyteSpyder has become known as an innovative company, building and utilizing proprietary technology tools for strategy and content creation to help suppliers and retailers better scale their omnichannel business in a sustainable way.
“Bringing J.S. to WhyteSpyder will add a lot of great value across the organization. WhyteSpyder is a disruptive, innovative company and J.S. is the perfect partner for our environment and culture with his experience as a leader and his willingness to roll up his sleeves and work with vigor,” Howerton said. “J.S. has a successful background and interest in technology and we’re looking forward to his contributions in this space. It’s the perfect timing for him to join our team as we continue to launch and scale innovative technology and software solutions.”
Bull’s 20-year career has been marked by entrepreneurism, technology, and working with Walmart and its suppliers. In 1999, he founded eUpgrade, one of the first online comparison-shopping websites. His next step was with NorthStar Partnering Group where he worked with Walmart International and then led the team that delivered Walmart and Sam’s Club’s first in-store health events, including diabetes, healthy heart, and the first ever nationwide flu shot event.
His time as director of sales at Rockfish Interactive included growing the Walmart account and the development of the MyWalmart.com program. Following that, he co-founded Field Agent in 2009 and Colby Valve in 2016. Most recently, he was vice president of sales for Pace Industries, North America’s premier die casting company. His team exceeded $260 million in annual sales and more than $56 million in annual gross profit over the last five years, as the company experienced record growth.
"Knowing J.S. personally and professionally for more than 20 years, it’s easy to see that he and WhyteSpyder are a terrific fit. His customer focus, organizational ability and problem-solving skills are a wonderful complement to Eric's visionary leadership and the company he has built. It is going to be exciting to see what innovations they produce as a team,” said Henry Ho, Field Agent partner, chief strategy officer and one of Bull’s fellow co-founders.
“WhyteSpyder’s future looks limitless,” Bull said. “Eric invited me in to preview WhyteSpyder’s SKU Ninja product and it absolutely blew me away. The capabilities currently in the pipeline are going to fundamentally change the way suppliers compete in a retail world where the line between online shopping and in-store purchasing continues to become more blurred,” he said. “It gave me a vision for the massive potential; and it became clear that my experience and skill set can help amplify and accelerate the company’s growth.”
In his new position, Bull will be responsible for the areas of operations, human resources, legal and finance. Howerton will continue to lead marketing and sales. Originally from Fayetteville, Bull holds a BBA in marketing, accounting and management information systems from the University of Oklahoma. He and his wife Amy recently welcomed their first baby, Ava, to the family.
