Five-Day Celebration Opens to the Public with Interactive Food Experiences
To highlight the city’s unique and layered culture, Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) is launching a five-day food truck event across San Francisco from May 30 – June 3, 2019 that is free and open to the public. The event, stopping at a variety of popular San Francisco locations, features authentic Macanese food, cultural performances, a trip giveaway to Macao, China and photo opportunities that showcase Macao’s architecture.
A melting pot of cultures, Macao, China was under Portuguese administration for more than 400 years, leading to a unique blend of architecture, people and food. In recent years, the city has become a force within the culinary world with more than 19 Michelin-starred restaurants and 12 Michelin-recommended street foods, earning a UNESCO City of Creative Gastronomy title in 2017.
“After a successful Food Truck in New York City and Los Angeles, we are excited to bring this cultural experience to the city of San Francisco,” says Julie Avery-Cuesta, General Manager for MGTO-USA. “We look forward to sharing Macao’s distinct culinary landscape and hope it entices participants to visit our beautiful city.”
The event will feature a food truck that showcases four of Macao’s unique culinary offerings: Macanese egg tarts, pork chop buns, salt cod bacalhau cakes, and serradura. Alongside the sampling of Macanese treats, participants will learn about Macao’s history and culture through performances, food samples, brochures, travel information relayed by MGTO representatives, and a trip giveaway to Macao, China.
The onsite sweepstakes will take place from May 30, concluding on June 3, with one lucky consumer winning a trip for two to Macao, China inclusive of two airlines tickets and six nights of accommodation on behalf of MGTO-USA’s prize sponsors: Cathay Pacific Airways, HongKong Airlines, Crowne Plaza Macau, Four Seasons Hotel, Galaxy Macau, Hotel Okura Macau, Hotel Royal Macau, JW Marriott Macau, MGM, The Parisian Macao, Sheraton Grand Macao Hotel, St. Regis Macao, The Venetian Macao, and Wynn.
