ORTHOGLAM: A FASHION CANE THAT SHOWS YOUR STYLE

Announcing OrthoGlam, the company that is reinventing the cane as a fashion statement for the modern world. OrthoGlam first appeared in an episode of Netflix’s “Grace and Frankie,” in which Frankie bedazzles a lavender cane because she believes there is never enough sparkle in the world.

Do you know any aging rockers or just someone who would appreciate a cutting-edge style makeover? Bring a smile to their face with a Leather and Studs Cane! Here’s another idea: a glittering red rhinestone cane to express that holiday sparkle!

“A lot of people are resistant to using canes because they think a walking device makes them look or feel diminished. We turn orthopedic equipment into fashion accessories. Keep your balance AND your style. Actually, enhance your style. It’s about taking something that can be a bit depressing and transforming it into something fun and beautiful that makes people happy.” - OrthoGlam, Inc. founder N.Z. Gershwin.

SOMETHING OLD AND SOMETHING NEW

In recent history, canes have been associated with aging or other orthopedic needs, but canes were an indispensable fashion accessory from the 17th to the 19th Centuries. A person of good social standing would have had day and evening canes for every social occasion. Both real-life

and fictional characters sported canes as a sign of style and distinction: from Fred Astaire to Jay Gatsby… not to mention Mr. Peanut.

Now GenXers and Millennials have reinvigorated that fashion trend. In 2012 Brad Pitt sported a fashionable cane at the Golden Globes to assist him with a recent injury. Madonna used a glittering cane at the Grammys, but even after her injury healed, she used the cane as a fashion accessory in her “Vogue” photoshoot. Jennifer Lopez added more bling to her Super Bowl performance with a dramatically sparkling cane.

60 IS THE NEW 40

Views on aging are changing. Seniors don’t want to feel invisible or be defined by their age or disability, and they’re not willing to fade gracefully into a depressing abyss of hospital gray. Getting older is seen as a chance to be freer and more yourself, from Oprah talking about the blessings of aging, to a proliferation of blogs such as “Sixty and Me” and “Grey Fox”.

Influencer sensations like Iris Apfel and Baddy Winkle, fashion icons in “Advanced Style” such as Joyce Carpati, also an OrthoGlam model, or the beautiful 90-something actress Barbara Rush, seen with a leather and studs cane in an OrthoGlam ad, display the captivating spirit of “Grace and Frankie”: that getting older is a chance to live with even more color, style, and personality.

In the end, we’re all looking for ways to add some sparkle to our everyday lives – and there’s a wisdom in that!
