Control Your Risk—Prepare Ahead—Have a Plan—Follow Guidelines and Advice

Norwall PowerSystems urged sensible preparedness for the Coronavirus national emergency. President Donald Trump declared a state of emergency for the United States on March 13. Four days later, the President issued Coronavirus Guidelines for America to help slow the spread of the disease. Minimal contact with others, including social distancing, will reduce the spread of Coronavirus. Over the 15 days, healthcare resources will test for the disease and determine its spread.

Meanwhile, hoarding of toilet paper, hand sanitizer, and other essentials continues to leave store shelves empty.

Christopher Hertsch, President of Norwall PowerSystems (www.norwall.com) said, “We talk about Emergency Preparedness all year long in the context of hurricane season, California power outages, and winter storms. Everyone should make an emergency preparedness plan that includes a few weeks of nonperishable food and water, medicine, and essential personal items.”

It’s commonsense preparedness. Keep a three-week supply of emergency essentials including canned meats, vegetables and fruit, and staples like pasta, boxed mac & cheese, and rice. Ready to bake muffins or rolls, breads, and similar items can fill in when the bread section at the store is empty. Store a gallon of water for each person per day. If you have to quarantine, you’ll have enough food and water for three weeks.

Currently, there are no nationwide shortages except in local stores which will restock. Buy only what you need. Make a weekly or biweekly shopping trip to buy fresh meats and fresh vegetables. Purchase for a week and go back next week. Do the same with meat, dairy, and other perishables.

Electrical power is another necessity that people take for granted. If the power goes out for more than a few hours, food in refrigerators begins to spoil. FEMA recommends a backup supply of power as part of your preparedness plan. An automatic standby generator or portable generator for emergency power keeps essentials running for days.

Norwall PowerSystems specializes in the sale of emergency backup power generators and power equipment. The company stocks 1000s of standby generators, portable generators, automatic transfer switches, and replacement parts in multiple warehouses throughout the US for immediate shipment. In business more than 23 years, Norwall has shipped a quarter-million generators.
