Headlining the sale is exceptional couture runway costume jewelry from a private New York collection: a suite of Chanel pistol motif jewelry comprising a brooch, pair of earrings, and a convertible necklace / belt, a pair of Chanel shotgun revolver earrings, a pair of Chanel lambskin and gold-tone cuff bracelets, a Karl Lagerfeld “Peas in a Pod” necklace, and other signature pieces by Yves Saint Laurent, Christian Lacroix, Edouard Rambaud, Christian Dior, and Boucher. Also of note is a large selection of Hermes and other designer scarves.

Highlights in Old Master prints include three important etchings: Albrecht Durer etching “The Sundarium Held by One Angel,” Rembrandt’s “The Old Bearded Man in a High Fur Cap, with Eyes Closed,” and Jacques Callot’s “Massacre of the Innocents.” Early paintings include a Francesco Curia Italian Renaissance oil on panel Ascension, a Continental School “St. Jerome,” and a Spanish Colonial bishop and angel. The 20th century is strongly represented by works from Marcel Duchamp, Pierre Bonnard, Pablo Picasso, Jean Cocteau, Lowell Blair Nesbitt, and other world class artists.

Fine furnishings span a variety of styles with traditional offerings including a Louis Majorelle three piece drawing room suite, vitrine, marquetry tripod side table, and etagere, a 19th century English two-part campaign chest, an Arts & Crafts revolving bookcase, a Verne Martin bombe commode, an Adams style Neoclassical two-piece breakfront cabinet, and others. Those with a modern taste will find a Charles and Ray Eames for Herman Miller lounge chair, an Isamu Noguchi glass top coffee table, a pair of Adrian Pearsall chairs with Paul Evans style Brutalist bases, a pair of Henry Walter Klein Danish modern side chairs, and two impressive Feliciano Bejar “Magiscope” sculptures.

Collectors of antiquities will be tempted by an Ancient Greek Hellenistic period Apulian Hydria bell-krater, an Apulian Oinochoi Hellenistic terracotta wine jug, an Ancient Egyptian “Osiris” funerary bronze figure, an Ancient Luristan ram figural bronze finial, and others. Other exceptional offerings include many wonderful pieces of fine jewelry, a collection of Judaica silver, ornate Continental mantel clocks, elaborate Victorian wax seals, porcelain, glass, and much more.
