New Science-Based Program Helps People Manage Stress Before and After the Election

2020-10-23 09:00:00 - United States, Massachusetts, Hopkinton - (PR Distribution™)

Hopkinton, MA, 10/23/2020. According to the American Psychological Association, more than two-thirds (68 percent) of eligible voters found the upcoming presidential election to be a significant source of stress. Add to this the ongoing concerns about COVID-19, and it is a recipe for a “stress pandemic” that is affecting the lives of countless individuals. Election Zen is an on-line program designed to help people manage this stress by offering information and tools to boost wellbeing and turn angst into calm, purposeful action before and after the election.

“Fear, anger, and angst are appropriate reactions to what is going on in America today, and there are ways to leverage those emotions for more sustainable action,” said Jenny C. Brennan, President of Ardent Wellbeing, LLC. “We are not going to tell you to think positively. Instead, we are going to give you science-based strategies to help you tap into your strengths and build your wellbeing resources so you can better support the things you care about.”

The one-hour, self-paced program contains short video modules that teach participants science-based strategies designed to reduce stress and enhance wellbeing. There is also a downloadable Election Zen workbook that offers practice exercises. To access the program go to www.electionzen.com

“People can learn how to manage stress in ways that are more conducive to wellbeing,” said Brennan. “Other strategies we teach include how to practice compassion, check your thinking for accuracy, strengthen your relationships despite physical distance, and create moments of awe and gratitude.”

The program draws from research insights from the science of applied positive psychology. Positive psychology is an applied social science that explores the strengths, traits, capacities, and experiences that contribute to human flourishing.

Ardent Wellbeing, LLC provides educational and consultation services to individuals and organizations who want to apply the science of positive psychology to their work practices, training programs, or community outreach for greater engagement, resilience, and success.
