If you thought a lyricist cannot sing or compose a song, then this lad from Delhi is all set to prove you wrong. Rishabh Chhabra is a lyricist, music composer, and certified music producer from New Delhi. A musician, who always had his heart in music, started his journey at the age of 12.
When did your musical journey start? Were you always wanted to be a musician?
I have always been into music since I was a kid. I started learning guitar when I was around 12 years of age. At that point, I just wanted to play guitar and sing for my friends and family.
Writing lyrics, music composition, singing or music production, what is your forte?
I want to be an entertainer & all-rounder, a person, who can sing, write, act, and do everything. Before music, I was also doing comedy vines with my friends. I also did a part in a movie, which is slated to release in 2021.
I became a lyricist because I am a very moody person.
If I feel something, I will express it.
If I have an idea in my head, I play my guitar and hum the two lines which I have in my mind, over and over again. Within an hour or more, the entire song will be ready in front of me on the paper.
How has been your journey so far?
My journey has been like a roller coaster ride. I have had my lows and ups also. When you begin your journey, you are releasing songs and making music for people. But, at some point, you will be like ‘that’s it’; I am not going above this level’. There is a saturation point in the career of every artist. After making music, I became a lyricist. I also have my own production team, 3 Kingz Production that writes for me as well.
In the future, if you get a chance to get signed by a big record label, would that be welcoming for you or would choose to stay independent with your work?
That’s a tough question. If the opportunity comes by and the label offers to make my song big in terms of audience reach then why not. I don’t want the money aspect but just want my songs, sound and my emotions to reach out to people.
Who has been your inspiration in the music industry?
His name is Zaman Khan - the lead guitarist of the Indian rock band called Astitva the band. He has been my idol for the longest time.
Any message, you want to give to upcoming artists?
Just keep going and never let your failures define you. If you fail at something, no problem, wake up the next day and work on the next project (song).
