Menlo Park, Tuolumne County, Milpitas Among Numerous Northern California Cities and Counties Improving Efficiency in Budgeting and Financial Planning

The City of Menlo Park, Tuolumne County, City of Milpitas, Glenn County, City of Rancho Cordova, and seven other government agencies in the Northern California region have recently implemented and gone-live with OpenGov to drive efficiency for staff, streamline budget development, and leverage flexible, modern solutions for budget scenarios and workforce planning. OpenGov is the leader in modern cloud ERP software for our nation’s cities, counties, and state agencies, offering collaborative budgeting, robust financial management, and intuitive citizen services.

“OpenGov helps us be more effective by streamlining our budgeting and reporting process,” said Daphine Harris, Financial Services Manager in the City of Ukiah. “We are excited to expand our transparency and build community trust and engagement through our OpenGov transparency portal. Since we implemented OpenGov Budgeting & Planning and began streamlining our processes, we have saved an estimated 600 hours, allowing the budget team to focus more time on strategy.”

Having come from traditional workflows centered on budgeting in complex Excel spreadsheets and outdated ERP budget modules, these communities were looking for a better solution to address the inefficiencies, duplicative efforts, lack of accountability and collaboration, as well as the high risk of error associated with using outdated software.

By partnering with OpenGov, these agencies are investing in technology that will achieve unprecedented levels of alignment and collaboration by centralizing their budget process around a single source of truth.  With intuitive tools for workforce planning, capital planning, publishing a fully interactive online budget book, and other industry-leading reporting and communications tools, OpenGov’s budgeting software will improve effectiveness across every part of the budgeting and planning cycle, benefiting staff, electeds, and public stakeholders.

“OpenGov facilitated the budgeting for personnel costs, resulting in savings of several million dollars,” said City of Milpitas Finance Director, Walter C. Rossmann. “This is especially important during this financial crisis we are experiencing.”

San Benito County, Tuolumne County, Glenn County, the cities of Menlo Park, Foster City, Milpitas, Ukiah, Campbell, San Benito and Rancho Cordova, and the government agencies PRISM and San Francisco County Transportation Authority join over a thousand other government organizations already leveraging OpenGov to revolutionize public sector processes with cloud-based software designed specifically for the needs of government.

“OpenGov helped our City to model several budget and workforce scenarios quickly during a time when the City was rapidly adjusting to a financial crisis and working remotely,” said Will Fuentes, Finance Director in the City of Campbell. “While a new system implementation will always take time and effort, the OpenGov team and partners were there with us every step of the way and went above and beyond.  And without the OpenGov platform, our City, with a relatively small staff size, would not have been able to adjust to the financial crisis so quickly.”

OpenGov will serve these government agencies with technology that streamlines the budgeting process, aligns budgets to performance outcomes, allows enterprise level resource planning, simplifies financial management, builds trust with constituents and modernizes reporting capabilities.
