MARVIN WINANS JR. IS VYING TO BECOME THE FIRST AFRICAN AMERICAN TO BE ELECTED TO PUBLIC OFFICE IN BEVERLY HILLS HISTORY

09/11/2018 10:00 - BEVERLY HILLS, CA - (PR Distribution™)

Since it was founded over 104 years ago, Beverly Hills has never elected an African American to any public office. Marvin Winans Jr. is hopeful to finally break racial barriers and bring more diversity to this iconic city by running for a seat on the Beverly Hills School Board. If voted in, Marvin would be the first black man to serve in Beverly Hills government.

Marvin feels diversity matters on the school board because “It will help mirror values of the community at large and better prepare students for the real world.” Marvin is hopeful that his “independent voice, personal experiences, and professional expertise in fiscal management will bring a new perspective and fresh approach to the board.” Marvin, who coincidentally, graduated from a high school in Beverly Hills, Michigan, a suburb to the city of Detroit, added, “I believe my background and unique perspective would benefit student achievement and be a culture shift for this great city. It’s time,” said Marvin.

An accomplished TV, film, and music producer, Marvin has years of experience as a CEO and entertainment executive developing and managing large budgets. Marvin’s leadership abilities are demonstrated on a daily basis as he currently serves as the PTA Vice President at Beverly Vista School. He is deeply committed to safeguarding our schools and currently serves on the district’s security committee that is working to develop innovative and enhanced measures to protect our students and staff. Recently he worked to pass the district’s construction bond, Measure BH, enabling the district to renovate and upgrade its aging schools.
