International Association of Top Professionals Awards FCA US Executive with Executive of the Decade Award

The International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP) has selected May-Leng Yau-Patterson, Head of World Class Manufacturing Mexico Operations for FCA US LLC, as the recipient of its prestigious “Executive of the Decade Award.”  Yau-Patterson will be honored for this distinction and for her induction into IAOTP’s Hall of Fame, at the Annual Awards Gala being held at the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas on December 7, 2019.  Yau-Patterson was honored at IAOTP’s 2018 Annual Awards Gala at the Plaza Hotel in NYC where she received “Empowered Woman of the Year” and the “Lifetime Achievement” awards. As part of this recognition, Yau-Patterson is featured on the cover of the Top Industry Professional (T.I.P) magazine, which is viewed by thousands of top professionals all around the world. Yau-Patterson will also be featured on the Reuters Building in Times Square, New York for her selection as “Executive of the Decade”.

While inclusion in the IAOTP is an honor in itself, only one person is selected as Executive of the Decade, as it is based on leadership, knowledge in their field, influencing impact in their industry, professional accomplishments, academic achievements, and civic contributions.

With over three decades of professional experience in the logistics and manufacturing industry, Yau-Patterson has established herself as an accomplished professional and expert in the field. Starting as a Lead Logistics Analyst, she worked her way up, assuming positions with increasing responsibility for prestigious companies that included Ryder Logistics, TNT Logistics, Exel Logistics and General Motors, before joining DaimlerChrysler (now FCA US) in 2002. 

In her current position with FCA US, Yau-Patterson is responsible for leading and coaching plant managers and the leadership teams at the assembly, engine and stamping plants in the implementation of World Class Manufacturing (WCM), a methodology that focuses on eliminating waste, increasing productivity, and improving quality and safety in a systematic and organized way.  She is responsible for the development and engagement of people in the application of the WCM technical methods and tools to achieve operational excellence. WCM has been credited as one of the key strategies in the continued success of FCA US.  Yau-Patterson’s role expanded to include coaching and performing World Class Logistics (WCL) audits at service parts operations.  Yau-Patterson is a certified Global WCM and WCL Auditor who performs audits at facilities around the world.  

During the span of her career, Yau-Patterson’s responsibilities have encompassed overseeing Lean Manufacturing; Lean Production Methodology and Tools, Supply Chain Management; Logistics Management; Strategy Development; Purchasing; Material Handling & Packaging Solutions; Logistics Engineering and Industrial Engineering.  

Yau-Patterson has been recognized worldwide and received numerous awards for her outstanding leadership and commitment to the profession. In addition to her 2019 IAOTP awards, she was named Empowered Woman of the Year and Business Innovator of the Year, in addition to receiving the Lifetime Achievement award in 2018. Yau-Patterson was honored as a Top Female Executive and the Woman of the Year in 2017.  For all of her contributions to her profession, Yau-Patterson was selected to become a member of IAOTP’s Million Dollar Roundtable in 2018. 

Other recognitions have included being honored as 2016 Top Professional of the Year in Manufacturing by the IAOTP, awarded Prominent Professional Woman of The Year in the Automotive industry by Continental Who’s Who, named one of Automotive News’ 100 Leading Women in the North American Auto Industry, honored as a Delegate Featured Leader by the International Women’s Leadership Association, selected as a recipient of the Women of Color Achievement, and awarded Empire & Cambridge Who’s Who Professional of the Year both in the automobile industry.  Yau-Patterson was featured in the 2015 and 2016 editions of the Inner Circle Executive Magazine.

Yau-Patterson earned both her Bachelor of Science in Systems Analysis and Master of Science in Operations Research from the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Fla.

Yau-Patterson attributes her success to her perseverance, work ethic, and the support of her family.  When not working she enjoys running charity races and traveling with her family.  For the future, she hopes to continue to thrive as a business leader in her industry.
