HANDICARE INSTALLS 32-BED, STATE-OF-THE-ART CEILING TRACK LIFT SYSTEM AT ADVENTHEALTH DAYTONA BEACH - Ceiling Track System Includes New Proprietary Smoke Control System

01/29/2019 13:00 - ST. LOUIS AND DAYTONA BEACH, FLA - (PR Distribution™)

Handicare announced today that it has completed installation of a 32-bed, state-of-the-art ceiling track lift system in the Inpatient Rehabilitation Center at AdventHealth Daytona Beach.

”This is a significant achievement in supporting rehabilitation care,” said Charley Wallace, president of Handicare North America. ”At more than a half mile of fully connected ceiling track throughout the rooms, hallway and into the dining area, AdventHealth Daytona Beach now has one of the longest track systems in the nation.”

In addition to the fully connected ceiling track system, the project includes 33 Handicare C-625 ceiling lift motors and 99 power turntables. Handicare also installed a ceiling track system for the facility’s walkable gym. The ceiling track system, motors and power turntables are made and assembled at Handicare’s manufacturing facility in St. Louis, MO.

“We are genuinely excited about our new track system in our brand new inpatient rehab unit. It’s truly state-of-the-art,” said Kristen Hanak, AdventHealth Daytona Beach executive director of rehabilitation services. “Our priority is to keep our patients and our employees safe.  Our new track system allows our nursing and therapy staff to safely assist patients out of bed and to begin walking, helping patients reach their highest level of potential, while at the same time reducing their risk of falling as they work to regain their mobility.“

”One of the challenges of this project was how to build a ceiling track system that could go through the doors of the patient rooms into the hallway while meeting Florida’s Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) regulations,” explained Wallace. ”We developed a new solution to prevent any potential smoke or gases from escaping through our ceiling track system.”

Handicare’s new ceiling track smoke control system is a proprietary design that seals the gap in the ceiling track where it passes through a fire door. The Handicare ceiling track smoke control system is a spring-loaded mechanical device that enables seamless transfer of the ceiling lift when traversing through the doorway. It utilizes spring-loaded tension to automatically seal the track and prevent leaking of smoke or gas from one room to the hallway. Handicare’s ceiling track smoke control system is proven to pass Florida AHCA regulations, certified and tested as per UL’s section 7 of ULC 1784 (2010) Air Leakage Tests of Door Assemblies, and is patent impending.
