Washington, DC – Robert “Bo” Brabo has seen it all.  From growing up in a small suburban community in Michigan, to the battlefield in Iraq, to leading communications teams for Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama, and to helping run and lead privately held businesses in healthcare, real estate, and government contracting. Brabo learned about accountability, leading in the most highly stressful environments, and maintaining respectful debate among colleagues and business partners.  Bo shares those experiences in an enlightening look into his personal life, military experience, and professional career in his book From the Battlefield to the White House to the BoardroomLeading Organizations to Values Based Results.

“I’m just guy from a small town in middle America who worked hard, treated people how I wanted to be treated and found myself one-on-one in with President Obama conducting radio interviews”, said Brabo.  “We live in this society where instant celebrity is desired at all costs, where national media has become slanted so heavily from one party to the other, and where our business and political leaders have lost touch with what most Americans really want: accountability; strong, objective leadership; and teamwork”.  “What I learned from serving in both Presidents Bush and Obama’s administrations is that there needs to be a true conviction to a set of core values that drives leadership behaviors and lends to high performance and achieving desired results.  I took those lessons and apply them to both my professional and personal life.”

From the Battlefield to the White House to the Boardroom features a forward from JetBlue Founder Mike Barger, who shares Brabo’s military background, entrepreneurial passion, and University of Michigan Ross School of Business background.  Brabo and Barger linked up while Brabo was completing his MBA from the prestigious Ross School and Barger, whom today is the Executive Director of Strategy & Innovation at Ross, as well as a Professor of the MBA  course, High-Stakes Leadership, took an interest in Brabo’s professional career and book endeavor.  Of Brabo, Barger said “Bo’s book was written to help anyone with leadership responsibilities lead more effectively. Specifically, the book is a practical guide for developing your own values-based approach to leadership. Bo’s unique combination of experiences on the battlefield, inside the beltway in Washington, DC, and as a seasoned business executive provide a rare breadth of perspective that make his recommendations universally applicable.”

From the Battlefield to the White House to the Boardroom is a must read for unique insight into Bo’s world of military experience, serving Presidents from both political parties, and helping lead corporations from start-ups to growth to divestiture.  His blend of personal and professional accounts will assist individuals and business leaders in leading their organizations with strong, yet thoughtful and accountable leadership.
