Frank Mann selected as Top Artist of the Year by the International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP)

Frank Mann, Esteemed Artist, Educator, Writer, and Founder of the Frank Mann Studio, has been selected as Top Artist of the Year for 2018 by the International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP) for his outstanding leadership and commitment to the Art Industry.

While inclusion with the International Association of Top Professionals is an honor in itself, only a few members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction. These special honorees are distinguished based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, longevity in the field, other affiliations and contributions to their communities.  All honorees are invited to attend the IAOTP’s annual award gala at the end of this year for a night to honor their achievements. www.iaotp.com/award-gala.

With over 3 decades of professional experience as an Artist, Educator & Writer, Mr. Mann has certainly proven himself as an accomplished professional, expert & an inspiration to all in the arts community.  Unique, extraordinary, brilliant and pure genius are just some words that come to mind when describing Mr. Mann.  As a dynamic results-driven leader who has participated in hundreds of group exhibitions and more than twenty one-person exhibitions, all of Mr. Mann’s work has been well received.  He has demonstrated success not only as an artist, who has had his works included in exhibitions on six continents, including international exhibitions as well as biennials and triennials, but also as an educator who has lectured in regard to his own work interests and on various topics related to contemporary art. Mr. Mann has certainly worn many hats on his way to becoming a household name.

Mr. Mann is an American Artist interested in vision and visual perception.  He has exhibited widely, with major exhibitions in NY, Amsterdam, Paris, Barcelona, and Berlin.  His works can be viewed at the Alessandro Berni Gallery, the Artifact Gallery of New York, Yvon Lambert Gallery, Cie Moderne et Contemporaine of Paris, L’Agostiniana Galleria and the Borgo Gallery of Rome.  His work is represented in the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art, New York, The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, NY, The National Galerie, Berlin, the Museum of Modern Art, Buenos Aires, Argentina, and the Museum of Contemporary Art, Nice, France. Mr. Mann’s distinguished work has been included in public and private collections in the United States, Asia, and in Europe and can also be seen in books and publications in Italy, the United Kingdom, Portugal, Austria, Germany, France and in the United States.

Mr. Mann’s impressive repertoire of prior roles have included being commissioned to complete the murals project for St. Cyril’s Church in New York, Visiting Artist for the Coalition for the Homeless Camp, Free Arts N.Y.C, he participated in Artworks 4 Charity, Children’s Friends for Life in 1997, which he contributed his own works through Visual Aids, as well as to the Association D’Aides, Paris and to the New Jersey Foundation for the Blind.  He served as Executive Director of Collaborative Projects, and Director of Basic Arts Network. Mr. Mann worked as a studio assistant to Dorothea Rockburne and his first works exhibited in New York were at Franklin Furnace and Artists Space.

Aside from his work being viewed by millions, Mr. Mann is also a sought after lecturer and speaker. He lectured at the New Jersey Institute of Technology, Iona College, New Arts Program Exhibition Space, Northampton College, Reading College, and at the Frank Mann Studio.  Mr. Mann was the Illustrator of the book Nerves, and he wrote the text for the film “Eye of the Painter”.  Mr. Mann has contributed to catalogues for exhibitions, which included museum catalogues, issues of Blast Magazine, portfolios including the Notebook of COLAB Arts, which are all in the collection at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City. His articles have been published in professional journals such as “The Optical Machine” of Nap Text(s). He created the book entitled “Oculus, A Survey Exhibition” for the Broome Street Gallery, NY, which is in the collection of the Smithsonian Archives of American Art Washington, D.C. His essays appeared in books such as the American Society of Contemporary Artists, in the collection of the Frances Mulhall Achilles Library of the Whitney Museum of American Art, NY, The Thomas J. Watson Library of the Metropolitan Museum of Art and at the International Center of Documentation, Casoria Contemporary Art Museum, in Naples, Italy.

Mr. Mann earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Life Sciences/Biology under the geneticist Dr. Leo Weeks, from High Point University in 1972.  He continued his studies at George Washington University, this time with a focus on a fine arts curriculum.  He earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1978. He supplemented his education and experience with studies in art history at Columbia University, as well as attending the Whitney Graduate Seminars in Contemporary Art at the Whitney Museum of American Art.  He received an MFA Degree from Pratt Institute in 1981 and an Honorary Associative Degree which was presented by the Accademia Italia in Arte nel Mondo Associazione Culturale, in Lecce, Italy in 2017.

The President of IAOTP, Stephanie Cirami stated that “Choosing Mr. Mann for this award was an easy decision for our panel to make.  He is a brilliant, talented and a leader in the Art Community. He was exactly what we were looking for and we know we will be seeing more outstanding things from this man.  We also hope to spend time with him at our gala this year at the Plaza Hotel in NYC.”

Throughout his illustrious career, Mr. Mann has been seen worldwide for his works and has received numerous awards, accolades and has been featured in numerous publications. For 2019 he is being considered for a feature in T.I.P (Top Industry Professionals) Magazine and for the Lifetime Achievement Award by the International Association of Top Professionals.  For 2018, he was named Top Artist of the Year by IAOTP and was presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who’s Who.  For 2017 he was the recipient of the International Prize Human Rights, in tribute to Victor Hugo, chosen to receive the Premier Leonardo Da Vinci International Award, presented by the International Contemporary Arts Magazine of Florence Italy, recipient of the II Guerrieri Di Riace, The Warriors of Riace Award and the International Art Academy Award of the Academia Italia in Arte nel Mondo Associazione Culurale of Lecce, Italy. He has received awards for international exhibitions and biennials as well as the Sandro Botticelli prize, presented by the EA Editore Publishers of Rome in 2015, and the International Human Rights Award, presented by the Italian Academy of Art of the World, in recognition of his significant artistic activities completed during 2016. He represented the United States in the Collateral Event of the 56th Venice Biennale, Italia Docet Laboratorium at the Palazzo Barbarigo Minotto, San Marco, Venice, Italy in 2015. He was the recipient of the Mabel Sanger Webb Award, the Ford Foundation Grant and the Lorenzo II Magnifico Medal.  He has been named in close to 20 editions of Who's Who for his work, including Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education, and Who's Who in the World. The American Society of Contemporary Artists awarded him the Premiere Certification of Honor in Graphics in 2010, the Roy Moyer Memorial Award in 2012, and the Elaine Alibrandi Award in Painting in 2013.

Aside from his successful career, Mr. Mann also sits on many boards and holds leadership positions with many organizations.  He is a member of the Americans for the Arts, Association D’art International, Global Art Affairs Foundation, Collaborative Projects, and i-AM Foundation.  He was the Vice-President of the American Society of Contemporary Artists.  He was a grantee of both the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs and the New York State Council on the Arts.  Additionally, he was elected Honorary Associate Member of the Accademia Italia in Arte nel Mondo Associazione Culturale. From 1999-2016 Mr. Mann served on the Board of Directors and was Vice President of Artists Equity.

Looking back, Mr. Mann attributes his success to his perseverance, mentors he has had along the way, and staying passionate in all of his works. Mr. Mann says he has been fortunate and he loves what he is doing, and feels this is just the beginning.  For the future, he will continue to thrive as an artist and hopes to continue to inspire and make a difference in people’s lives anyway that he can.
