Five Ways Remote Workstations Grant Inescapable Industry Advantages

05/07/2019 01:00 - United States, Nevada, Las Vegas - (PR Distribution™)

Businesses are beginning to adopt cloud computing in new and unforeseen ways. These new business processes are allowing them to surge ahead of their competition. Sometimes, the change is gradual, and sometimes it's immediately noticeable. We'll look at five ways in which deploying remote workstation infrastructure or remote desktop infrastructure, as it is sometimes called, has granted business advantages in different industries.

Before deploying this technology, you should of course make an informed decision taking into account use cases, capabilities, and of course cost vs overall value.

Manufacturing

In the field of manufacturing, real-time data reporting as well as performance uptime are paramount to a successful workflow. Highly-trained engineers must maintain factory work processes to acceptable parameters. Remote workstations allow the powerful capability for one machine to receive real-time data from all the computers on location, or even those in remote locations.

This ability allows users to gain oversight over output, maintenance schedules, potential causes of failure, user interactions, and more all from a central location. This not only improves efficiency, but also the quality and uniformity of work.

Healthcare

Hospital personnel are constantly on the move throughout the day. Opportunities to sit at a stationary work desktop may be few throughout the day. This is made more complex by their need to access critical and confidential patient data. Remote desktops, or Desktop as a Service (DAAS) setups allow them the ability to access this data securely and quickly on the fly. Once their devices are set up with the necessary software portal, they can remote into a central machine and quickly access their data without infringing on security policies.

Financial Services

In the finance world, security and quick aggregation of data are paramount. Remote machines can be set up to facilitate complex groups of access privileges. Multiple users may be logging into one machine, and this capability allows the organization to track who made what changes.

Not only does this greatly speed up the flow of information, it allows the organization to track security to a very fine, granular level.

Education

Educational institutions often face the problem of having to support aging or non-standardized technoloy. Remote desktops services or infrastructure, such as those provided by Amazon AWS or Microsoft Azure, allow organizations to slowly phase out old devices. IT personnel can now standardize new workflows around a centrally managed service that grants uniform desktops with a consistent application experience. Security and updates become much more consistent, standardized, and regular, too

Legal Services

Law firms and legal practices often host large amounts of information in their IT systems. This data needs to be highly protected, easy to access, and easy to write to as most firms produce and intake large amounts of data in their work processes. Desktop as a Service allows firms to deploy IT infrastructure that fulfills all these needs in a high time and cost-effective manner. Once set up, there is very little learning curve for the individual users and client data is protected, and the flow of data between employees remains unimpeded.

These are only some of the ways businesses are adopting remote desktop technology. Amazon's AWS Remote Workspaces, Microsoft's Azure Virtual Desktop are currently two providers of remote desktop services, although there are strong competitors for value such as Remote Workstations.
