Dr. Dassa’s medical career began upon receiving his Medical Degree from the New York Institute of Technology, New York College of Osteopathic Medicine in Old Westbury, New York, 1990. He completed a fellowship for Musculoskeletal Manipulation at the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine, 1991; an Internal Medicine Internship at Coney Island Hospital, in 1992; and completed a general surgery residency at St. Barnabas Hospital in Bronx, NY, 1993.
Dr. Dassa has completed his training at the New York University Langone Medical Center (Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery) and completed his Orthopedic Surgery Residency at Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Bronx Lebanon Hospital Center.
Dr. Dassa continued his training in Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery under the guidance of Dr.’s Charles Melone, M.D. and Keith Raskin, M.D. at New York University Medical Center/Hospital for Joint Diseases. Dr. Dassa also completed a Clinical Fellowship in Spinal and Joint Manipulation, and is a credentialed practitioner of Spinal and Joint Manipulation Under Anesthesia.
Board certified in Orthopedic Surgery by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery and the American Osteopathic Board of Orthopedic Surgery, Dr. Dassa treats patients for all general orthopedic conditions including Arthroscopic Surgery of the Knee and Shoulder. He also has special expertise in treating Distal Radius Fractures (Colles Fractures), Carpal Syndrome, Joint Replacement of The Hand and Wrist, Reconstruction of the Hand and Wrist, Nerve and Tendon Disorders of the Hand and Upper Extremity, and Wrist Arthroscopy.
Among his many achievements, Dr. Dassa has servedas the Chief of Orthopaedic Hand Surgery at Bronx Lebanon Hospital Center and Lincoln Medical and Mental Health Center. Also serving as the Chief of Orthopedics and Medical Director for AllMed Medical and Rehabilitation Centers of New York . He received the Distinguished Service Recognition Award from Our Lady Of Mercy Medical Center and is affiliated with Montefiore Medical Center, Bronx Lebanon Hospital Center and Mount Vernon Hospital Center.
Dr. Dassa is no stranger to treating athletes, artists and performers alike, serving as a physician for USA Boxing and on the Medical Team for the Daily News Golden Gloves Tournament. Moreover, Dr. Dassa has treated other physicians for potential career ending injuries.
