Cummings Graduate Institute for Behavioral Health Studies Launches EMDR Basic Training Continuing Education Program for Mental Health Clinicians

2021-01-28 04:00:00 - United States, Arizona, Phoenix - (PR Distribution™)

The nonprofit, private, post-secondary institution's new online trauma therapy training program familiarizes students with a spectrum of EMDR therapy applications that accelerate the treatment of pathologies related to disturbing events and present life conditions.

PHOENIX - Jan. 28, 2021 - Cummings Graduate Institute's (CGI) newest continuing education program,  EMDR Basic Training, provides experiential training to mental health clinicians in an online learning setting. Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is an extensively researched,  effective psychotherapy method validated to aid in recovery from trauma and other distressing experiences, including PTSD, anxiety, depression, and panic disorders. EMDR therapy is designed to resolve unprocessed traumatic memories in the brain. A number of neurophysiological studies have documented the rapid post treatment effects for a range of presenting complaints including traumatic stress, anxiety, somatic conditions, depression and addictions.

The EMDR Basic Training continuing education program includes EMDRIA-approved coursework and consultation leading to the Basic Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Certificate of Completion. The high-quality curriculum and training was developed by Carol Miles MSW, LCSW,  an EMDRIA Certified Therapist an EMDRIA Approved Consultant and an EMDRIA Approved Provider of  EMDR Basic Training, who will also serve as the instructor for the program. CGI's EMDR Basic Training is the beginning of the requirement for becoming EMDR Certified by EMDRIA, the EMDR professional organization.

The EMDR Basic Training program is a great asset for masters-level mental health professionals preparing to serve communities suffering from severe mental illness and trauma through trauma-informed care and restorative practices. Licensed Professional Counselors, Licensed Mental Health  Counselors, Social Workers, Licensed Marriage & Family Therapists, Mental Health Nurse Practitioners,  Psychologists and Mental Health Nurse Practitioners are encouraged to attend. Those on licensing tracks or in a master’s program may be eligible to participate.

Cummings Graduate Institute's EMDR Basic Training program takes place online March 29-31, 2021 and  May 5-7, 2021 with an additional 10 consultation hours completed outside of class. The deadline to apply for program admission is March 8, 2021. For additional information including program requirements, learning objectives, the application process, visit: https://cgi.edu/emdr/
