With close to 2 decades of professional experience as a care giver, taking care of three parents, Ms. Canion has certainly proven herself as an accomplished professional and expert in the field. As a dynamic, results-driven leader, Ms. Canion decided to use her experience and start writing.Ms. Canion has a collection of real-life stories and experiences in her award-winning book “You HaveTo LAUGH To Keep From CRYING/ How to Parent Your Parents” which Canion teaches that one must empower themselves by putting on the Armor of Knowledge and to find the humor in every situation. Her impressive repertoire of published works includes a workbook entitled “Parenting Your Parents Journal”, which helps answer many of the questions that a caregiver needs to know. Ms. Canion has demonstrated success not only as an award winning author, but is one of the hosts on Indie Beacon Radio (I Heart Radio). She is also an award winning Master Gardener and has recently released a mini gardening book entitled “MeMom and Friends Gardening Tips”, which is the first in a series of six. One of Ms. Canions’ passions includes teaching aging seniors and caregivers how to install Keyhole Gardens and Raised Bed Gardens. This will allow residents to take active part in planting and harvesting of the herbs and vegetables at their retirement facilities and the kitchens can use these herbs and vegetables in the food served. Ms. Canion has written many articles and is featured in “Short Stories by Texas Authors”, “The Art of Brave Living” and soon to be released is “The Guilt Syndrome / Caring For The Caregiver” co-authored by Keitha Story-Stephenson, PhD.
