Carlota Galvez Hufana Ader, MT, NCACLS Senior Medical Technologist/Coagulation Supervisor of Waianae Coast Comprehensive Health Center was just recently selected as Empowered Woman of the Year for 2020 by the International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP), for her outstanding leadership and commitment to the field.
While inclusion with the International Association of Top Professionals is an honor in itself, only a few women are selected for this distinction. The Empowered Woman of the Year is an award that is given to 10 Women who have excelled tremendously in a male dominated industry and have inspired other professionals from their outstanding commitment and contributions to society. With over three decades of professional experience, Carlota has certainly proven herself as an accomplished professional and expert in the Medical Technology field. As a talented, dynamic, results-driven leader, she has demonstrated success not only with Medical Technology but with every position ever held. Her key responsibilities and expertise for Waianae Coast Comprehensive Health Center include hematology, coagulation, training medical personnel, blood bank and tutoring.

Carlota remains active in her community and has been recognized worldwide for her outstanding leadership and her commitment to the profession. She has received awards and accolades and has been featured in magazines and other publications. For 2020, she is being considered to be featured in TIP (Top Industry Professionals) Magazine. She received VIP of the Year by Strathmore’s Who’s Who and Outstanding Professional of the Year. For 2017 selected as Top Sr Medical Technologist of the Year by the International Association of Top Professionals. In 2006, she was 1 of 100 of Philippines Ancestry to receive the “Achievement Contribution.” She is a member of the American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science; and National Credentialing Agency for Laboratory Personnel.
Carlota received her Bachelor of Arts in Medical Technology from Manila Central University in the Philippines in 1969. The President of IAOTP, Stephanie Cirami stated “Choosing Carlota for this honor was an easy decision for our panel to make. She is brilliant, talented and an inspiration to women all over the world. We know we will be seeing more outstanding things from this woman and we were honored to celebrate her at this year’s gala.”
Looking back, Carlota attributes her success to always striving for excellence, staying passionate in all her endeavors and mentors she has had along the way. When she is not working she enjoys reading, traveling, golfing and spending time with her family. Carlota says she has been blessed and feels this is just the beginning. For the future, she will continue to grow as a professional, and hopes to influence people’s lives any way that she can.
