Caribbean Songstress Ouida Returns with Inspirational Single “Mirror”

09/17/2018 12:00 - TORTOLA, BRITISH VIRGIN ISLANDS - (PR Distribution™)

British Virgin Islands’ Voice Soars with Powerful Second Single and Video

Ouida Nisbett-Turnbull, one of the Carribean’s brightest voices returns to the scene with her prolific new single and video “Mirror”.  The self reflecting song was produced and written by frequent collaborator two-time Grammy nominee Drew “Druski” Scott (Teyana Taylor, Nick Jonas, Fantasia, Bridget Kelly, Luke James).  The music video was shot and directed by Phillip Richards aka the Island Director and shows the vocalist’s vulnerability as she discovers the beauty within the pain.  As her voice soars over the powerful ballad so do her dreams of becoming one of the most memorable voices in the music industry.

“What if I’d to tell you/ Anything you dream/ Wasn’t in the distance/ And closer than you think.  All your imperfections / Fit you perfectly / So stand up to your failures / Tell them you can see,” sings Ouida before the explosive chorus.  “Mirror” is a theme that many of her fans can relate to as they pursue their own goals and dreams.  For Ouida her very own are coming full circle as the former BVI Caribbean Star winner is carving her own lane in R&B/Soul.

“Mirror is such a special record to me,” says Ouida.  “Life hurls many challenges our way at times.  Some develop the stamina to withstand, dust themselves off, and press on towards greatness.  Some are left groping in the dark, finding comfort in depression, addiction, low self-esteem, you name it.  This song/video brings a flicker of hope to the darkness.  There were times where I felt like my dreams were bigger than me.  That I wasn’t good enough.  I had to look myself in the eye and ask why not? No one is perfect and that’s part of being human; accepting yourself, flaws and all.”

Broken glass in the video signifies broken dreams yet Ouida begins to put them back together again.  Her resilience does not come as a surprise as she is even a survivor of the catastrophic Hurricane Irma that struck and devastated her homeland of Tortola.  Shot after the Hurricane, the video is a beacon of light for not just Ouida but anyone experiencing their own storm.

“Ouida is a survivor,” states Drew Scott.  “What she’s endured would cause any normal person to give up.  Her strength and fortitude inspired me to write this song.  Her voice has hope written all in it and I’m so excited she is sharing her timely message with the world.”

In a world that needs hope now more than ever Ouida believes her new single will usher in an era of self-love and confidence.
