10/29/2018 15:00 - MELBOURNE - (PR Distribution™)

Under the theme of The Future of Government, launched on 17th October 2018, policy makers and public servants can read about what’s working around the world as well as connect with peers and innovators in the field

MELBOURNE: Apolitical in partnership with the Australian Victoria State’s Department of Premier and Cabinet (DPC) and the Victorian Public Sector Commission (VPSC), has launched ‘The Future of Government’ global policy topic on Apolitical’s unique platform.

Apolitical is used by public servants in over 140 countries, connects public servants to the innovators behind the projects – breaking down institutional silos and facilitating engagement and collaboration.

The global policy topic brings together original reporting, thought leadership, and connections to key people in the field.

Issues covered range from cutting-edge behavioural science or gamification techniques in policymaking to the skills governments must cultivate in their staff to thrive amid the challenges of the future. The topic highlights what’s working, identifies key themes and challenges, and links users to the public servants and experts at the cutting edge of the field.

“This partnership with Apolitical will help us understand the innovative work being done by global public service officials to solve various issues facing governments today,” said Ryan Batchelor, Executive Director, Public Sector Reform, DPC.

“We’re proud of the work we’re doing here in Victoria to improve our public service. We’ve got some great stories of where we’re succeeding, and of some missteps too. And we want to share them with the world. We also want to learn from others as navigate the future of government together.”

The launch of the policy topic coincides with the Institute of Public Administration Australia’s (IPAA) National Conference. The conference brought together governments, civil society, the private sector, and academics to discuss and share solutions for the future of the public sector.

"This partnership is a wonderful opportunity to promote the sharing of ideas and new approaches to a problem we are all grappling with - how we prepare for a new workforce, shaped by changing needs. This is a great opportunity to be part of conversations across jurisdictions,” said Elizabeth Langdon - Deputy Commissioner, VPSC.

The Future of Government policy topic sits alongside next to, and intersects with, other global policy topics such as Digital Government, and Government Innovation and Leadership. Content is written by Apolitical’s policy writers as well as contributions from experts and public servants globally.. The sponsor has no editorial control.

“We hear from public servants and policymakers around the world about the need to connect with others who are innovating and preparing their governments for the future,” said Apolitical Co-Founder and Executive Chairperson Lisa Witter. “Apolitical puts the best solutions and the connections at the fingertips of public servants, wherever they are in the world.”
