AAEOY Announces the First Phase of 2020-2021 Awardees

The Asian American Engineer of the Year Award (AAEOY) Executive Committee announces the AAEOY 2020-2021 first phase awardees as follows: 

 

Asian American Executive of the Year Award:

Dr. Gurshaman Baweja, Texas Instruments

Dr. Mukesh Khare, IBM Research

Mr. Stephan Yahata, Boeing

Asian American Engineer of the Year Award:

Dr. Zhi Li, AT&T

Mr. Cao Nguyen, Naval Air Warfare Center

Mr. Morteza Safai, Boeing

Dr. Bo Song, Sandia National Laboratories

Dr. Shuqing Zeng, General Motors

Asian American Most Promising Engineer of the Year Award:

Ms. Poonam Aggarwal, Navy Undersea Warfare Center

Dr. Emad Aqad, DuPont Electronics & Imaging

Mr. Jacky-Vy Chau, Boeing

Dr. Dong Ding, Idaho National Laboratory

The AAEOY Award is presented each year since 2002 as part of the US National Engineers Week to honor outstanding Asian American professionals in academia, public service, and industries. It is hosted by the Chinese Institute of Engineers, USA (CIE-USA), and sponsored by corporations and the community.

Traditionally, there is a banquet and award ceremony to recognize and celebrate the achievements of the awardees. However, due to the uncertainty and restrictions brought on by COVID-19, the banquet and ceremony has been postponed tentatively to May 2021. 

With this 1st phase awardee announcement, AAEOY also starts accepting the 2nd phase nomination for 2020-2021 for the following categories: Distinguished Lifetime Achievement Award, Distinguished Science and Technology Award, Asian American Executive of the Year Award, Asian American Engineer of the Year Award, and Asian American Most Promising Engineer of the Year Award. Chinese Institute of Engineers, USA (CIE-USA), founded in 1917 in New York, is a non-profit organization promoting the advancements of science and technoloas well as STEM education. CIE-USA has 7 chapters throughout the US.
